Feb. 25, 2013 – The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) launched its “OPENPAYMENTS” Website last week, which will be administered by its Center for Program Integrity and make the financial relationships between manufacturers, group purchasing organizations, physicians and teaching hospitals “transparent and publicly available.” The OPENPAYMENTS site is part of CMS’ implementation of the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, for which a final rule was published earlier this month. CMS will publish data on this site starting in September 2014.
