June 4, 2013 – John Kamp, Coalition for Healthcare Communication Executive Director, and Jack Angel, Executive Director of the Coalition’s Education Foundation, will be speaking at an upcoming Sunshine Act Webinar: “Preparing for Physician Payment Sunshine Act Implementation: A Primer for Publishers and Agencies.” The June 18 Webinar, hosted by the Coalition and the Association of Medical Media, will cover the Sunshine Act final rules and speakers will discuss how they apply to “indirect payments” made by industry agencies and publishers.
Although Sunshine Act reporting is similar to reporting already required by some clients, the new reports will be even more comprehensive, complicated and incredibly detailed, and there will be no room for delays or errors. On Aug. 1, the tracking of these payments and “transfers of value” (PTOVs) must begin.
Kamp and Angel, along with Kathy Bronshtein, SVP Compliance, Sudler & Hennessey, not only will explain what is known about the application of the rules, but also will describe many things that are as yet unknown and how affected parties can develop strategies for implementation. In addition, Jack Angel will report on the ongoing dialogue that Coalition representatives are having with officials at the Department of Health & Human Services on certain unresolved issues.
The Webinar, held 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST on June 18, is free for members of the Coalition and the AMM, but attendees must register. Non-members wishing to attend should contact John Kamp at 703/801-4582.
